In loving memory of
Born an angel on May 28, 2015 at 12:46pm
Cindy and Daryl were blessed with a baby girl in November of 2014. In January, they discovered a huge cystic hygroma, which looked like bubbles or cluster of grapes, extending from the back of baby's head down to her back. At that point, they nicknamed her "Bubbles". Through a series of tests and scans, they learned that their baby girl had a lethal condition called Achondrogenesis, type 2, where her life would be limited to inside the womb or just minutes after birth. Many times, Cindy and Daryl were told that Charis would not survive another couple weeks... yet their little warrior thrived until she was 31weeks old, when her heart and lungs could no longer keep up. Cindy and Daryl learned that their baby was a gift from God - a precious gift of life that God has entrusted into their hands. Although her life was short, it was full of love, music, peace, and strength. Her life has gifted Cindy and Daryl many "firsts" milestones and brought their friends and families closer together, stronger together. Cindy and Daryl thus gave her the name, Charis (χαρις): (a) grace, as a gift of blessing brought to man by Jesus Christ, (b) favour, (c) gratitude, thanks, (d) a favour, kindness.
Anyone familiar with Cindy, Daryl, Charis and their families are welcomed to Charis' Memorial Service

Flowers are welcome, and should friends and families desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Women and Infant Program at Mount Sinai Hospital, in honour of Charis. Cindy and Daryl's journey has not been easy and everyone at Mount Sinai involved in Charis' care and creation of a memory legacy were vital to supporting them, and many other families anticipating or experiencing infant loss.
